You've arrived at the website of

JustSwanningAround.co.uk

- the erstwhile home of photographs and photo artworks resulting from many years of wandering around the UK and Europe with a love of photography.

We're of course 'Just Swanning Around' so development of this website will always be ongoing.

This website is gradually being built up to show a selection of images that I've taken mainly in Britain, France, Switzerland and Germany.
Some of these images will be purely photo-record or documentary of visits to various places. Some images will be edited or manipulated to add interest to the image. And some will be altered to become a photo artwork. Whatever your interest, I hope that there'll be something of interest for you on this visit, and on future visits as this website develops. Hopefully a few of the photos will perhaps even give you ideas or the impetus to go out and take something better - if so, let me see the results by emailing them to me.
Have a look at some of the page links on the left hand side of this page - they will lead you to a selection of images for you to explore. Let me know what you think of the photographs or maybe even what you would like to see added!

Hi!

Gigapan panoramas, Imager units and Stitcher software - 11,000 photos so far!
While we continue to use the early beta Imager unit, as shown below, Gigapan Systems are still developing new models and new Imager units have scheduled for this year (2010).
The Gigapan Epic Pro Imager (possible name) unit should appear soon this year and this will be suitable for use with larger DSLR cameras, while the use of the Gigapan Epic (for compact cameras) and Gigapan Epic 100 (for larger compact cameras and small DSLRs) were released in 2009.
Updated information about the Gigapan Imager units and the beta project can be found at GigaPan Panoramas.
Unfortunately UK Import Taxes and delivery costs can add a considerable amount to the initial cost of the Imager unit, so it is hoped that Gigapan Systems will look into the appointment of a UK distributor. If you feel that the cost of importing an Imager unit is putting you off purchasing then let me know and I will sent your comments on to Gigapan - we have already raised this point, and they are considering this option but a few added requests may help speed up the process.
Beta testing of Stitcher is ongoing and progress so far is looking good for an important version release this year.

What a start to the year in the UK - snow, ice and beautiful still clear sunlit days hearalded a return to the traditional winter for most of us. We may have complained but for the photographer life for a while was rather sweet!

All Gigapan information and panoramas have now been moved to our GigaPan Panoramas page, so keep following the rapidly changing ideas for panorama taking and displaying on that page.

The pages on this website continue to be organised into some form of logic, but remember I may just be spending too much time 'just swanning around'! And as a result, keep looking by for new images and pages being uploaded. Let me know what you think too, as it might just encourage me to go 'just swanning around' a little bit more.

The Local Weather:
For those who want to see what's helping me either get out to take photographs or stay at home editing photos on the computer have a look at the weather forecast below.
Unfortunately my skills at raindancing have yet again proved too good this year, so next year I'll be learning improved techniques in how to do the sundance.
